Will the Loire-Atlantique ever be a part of Brittany again?
Certain elements plead in favor of its reintegration. The
population of Loire Atlantique is? for the most part? in favor of this
solution. A TMO Régions survey, taken between February 22nd and
25th 1999 among 803 people over the age of 18, demonstrates that 68% of
those surveyed either completely agree (28%) or somewhat agree (40%) with
the idea of reintegration into Brittany. However, the affair is a long
way from being settled. A propaganda campaign is in place which aims to
highlight the historic value of the Loire Valley. And very soon, the young
people who have been taught that they are from the "Pays de Loirains"
are going to start to believe it. France 3's (public TV) policy concerning
the area leans toward reunification. That's why Patrick LeLay's television
project is a step in the right direction for Unified Brittany, even if
it doesn't totally satisfy some Bretons. It is intended for all Bretons
from Old, Historic Brittany, which is very, very important.
