| The island of Molène (300 inhabitants) shares its name with the entire
archipelago that the visitor will discover on his ocean voyage from Le
Conquet to Molène to Ouessant. Here, Mother Nature is Queen. l'UNESCO
has been protecting the site since 1988 with 22000 hectares classed as
"Biological Reserve, biosphere of the Iroise Sea". Several small
islands are also classed as bird reserves and run by the Société pour
l'Étude et la Protection de la Nature en Bretagne (SEPNB) (Society for
the study and protection of nature in Brittany). Three of these islands
are called Bannec, Balanec, and Trielen.
Running into one of the 45 gray seals (500 lbs) with their long mustaches,
or with a group of daulphins is certainly not rare in the Iroise see.
