The Pink Granite Coast (Côtes d'Armor) |
 |
A glorious chaos of rocks, the "Granite rose" is at its most beautiful
at sunset. Why not start your visit at Perros-Guirec by taking
the "chemin des douaniers". If you would like to escape from the crowds
of summer tourists, go inland. Many treasures are hidden there: Ploumanac'h
( N-D. de la Clarté Chapel), Saint-Duzec (Christianized Menhir),
île-Grande (covered alley)...Granite is an essential part of the
"Armorican" subsoil)
The blue rock from l'île-Grande serves as pavement for the boulevard Haussmann
in Paris and covers many a New York Sky scraper. |

Since 1962, right in the middle of the moors, the seven parabolic antennae
at the telecommunications station have been receiving signals from Intelsat
and Inmarsat (22,700 miles over our heads). Right next door, you can visit
the center's radome; a big white sphere that is over 160 feet tall, kept
inflated with a blower.
Press Release:
A new show: 360° of emotions, 30 minutes of emotion in images and
music. Since June 9th, 2000, the new show takes place under the big white
bubble of the Radome.
A high tech extravaganza around the 340 ton antenna.
