Nantes - Passage Pommeraye

Passage Pommeraye on a new years eve

Opened in 1843, this narrow passage is an architectural wonder. Covered with a glass ceiling, it consists of three levels of shopping galleries dressed up to nines with stucco arcades, medallions, busts, statues and iron filigree. Most striking is the soft light that bathes this urban oasis, which inspired the local film-maker Jacques Demy.

The passage is closed at night.

SOME ADVICE:

At each end of this covered passageway, there is a pedestrian street where parking is prohibited(on one end, rue La Fosse, and the other, the corner of Crébillon-Santeuil). On your visit to Nantes, Azureva.com advises you to leave your car in one of the the parking lots alongside the tramway, to hop on the "subway in the sky" and to continue your visit on foot. (Tickets available in each station).
