Corsican citadel - Bonifacio |
 |
In south Corsica,we can see Bonifacio, which is located on the
same parallel as Rome or Barcelona, the harbour( perhaps where you
will meet this Bonifacien which acted as one of the main figures
of" Astérix in Corsica) is most Southern from the island.
Bonifacio is more than 60 m of top, the white cliffs streaked
by erosion are cut up on a hundred of metres to lead to the nicest
die of Mediterranean Sea.
Dominant les Bouches de Bonifacio de plus de 60 m de haut, les
falaises blanches striées par l'érosion sont découpées
sur une centaine de mètres pour donner accès à
la plus belle calanche de Méditerranée. |
| We should imagine a fiords landscape under the Mediterranean
sun. The natural lively and coloueful harbour between blue sky and
blue sea- sinks on more than 1.500m inside lands. Here, the fishers
assure ambience; belaying their small trawl-nets; unloading rock
fish, crayfishes, shellfishes, that make happy neighbouring restos. |

Watching the block rosary which intersperse maritime passage
between Corsica and Sardinia, the old city deserves a discovery
"in depth". Proudly raised on her rocky piton, protected
by her genois bulwarks. it hides some buildings in Corsica, which
are worth the detour : St Dominique church( one of the rare gothic
building in Corsica), the amazing Ste Marie Majeure church( the
only one of the island to have an outside loggia) the street of
Both Emperors where chance wanted Charles-Quint and Bonaparte to
live in Houses making face, the Palace street with the spectacular
flying buttresses, the Genoa Door which faces up the sea... without
forgetting to sit down at the table in the only cabaret " Fa
Diese") which still favours authentic Corsican music. |
