No Greek island or region looks alike. Greece's different
religions and its several invasions both contributed to
the diversity of its architecture.
One thing that many regions and islands have in common
are its whitewashed houses. Originally this was to protect
their inhabitants from the intense heat. But today the
practice has been adopted for more esthetic purposes.
