AND WHAT ABOUT STAYING WITH THE LOCALS?
Staying at a boarding house or other home-stay situation
is an excellent way to get in tune with the way people
really live on a day to day basis, especially in the islands.
You'll learn about local customs and traditions from the
inside. Prices are about half way between what a hotel
or a camp site would cost. Remember to make your reservation
as soon as arrive in port. You'll probably be approached
by one of the boarding house "mamas" wanting
to rent you a room. Make sure you find a place that isn't
too far away from the center of town and don't hesitate
to negotiate prices, as they vary from season to season. |

PRACTICAL STUFF!
The quality of camp sites varies greatly from one site to another.
Watch out, because some of them are a very sad state; no upkeep,
filthy showers, piles of garbage right next to your tent. However,
some camp sites are located right next to outdoor discotheques...
a real "party" atmosphere guaranteed. (Perissa, Santorin,
Cyclades).
