The Island of Mykonos - Cyclades |
|
Yes, perhaps it's true that Mykonos is a tourist trap, that
hotel and room prices are twice as high as anywhere else in Greece,
etc. But Mykonos still has a great deal of its own special CHARM!
During the day, you'll walk its marvelous little streets with
their whitewashed houses, all the while admiring its many chapels.
At night, the island shows another side of its personality; Mykonos
turns into a gigantic night club. The atmosphere in its streets
is just amazing. Every hundred yards or so there is a disco, bar,
or tavern that just begs you to keep on celebrating... |
|
| Its reputation as a "gay" friendly island is well
founded. The island is a favorite gay destination, especially in
the summer. Choose your beach according to your own tastes.
"Petros" the pelican is the symbol of the island. You'll
find his image everywhere. You may even feel like you're being watched
by the big-billed bird! |

Important! There are no buses from the port or the airport.
Only the shuttles from hotels or camp sites will take you to where
you will be staying. Otherwise you can call a taxi or... walk.
Paradise camp ground is the "hip" and
thus overpopulated place to stay, but it does have a shuttle from
the airport and the port. |

DON'T MISS :
The archeological museum, on the road to the port.
The Ano Mera Monastery, 6 miles from Mykonos.
Tourlos, a small village to the left of the port. Peaceful
and inexpensive. However, make your reservation in advance because this
place is becoming more and more popular.
Beaches:
Paraga beach: next to Paradise Beach. A quiet beach that
is sheltered from the wind and perfect for diving.
Livadi Beach: maybe not as beautiful, but quiet and close to a
hotel.
Paradise beach: You've got to see it to believe it. Techno
music and dancing on the beach. A very fashionable beach where beach goers
love to show off their bodies. |
