NOUMEA
The city on the lagoon |
 |
Noumea has all the charm of a modern city on the
banks of a beautiful lagoon.
Capitol city of New Caledonia, Noumea is an important business
and tourist center. It is a city which blends all genres, racial
and cultural mixes. |
| It is one capitol that is also a wonderful
place to live. You'll love the charming Place des Cocotiers (coconut
tree square) where you can take a rest in the shade of a flamboyant
tree. Noumea is indeed a pleasant place to visit. And there is a
lot to see. In particular, you can admire its colonial architecture,
or visit the museums, the aquarium, and after all that, dive into
the crystal waters of the lagoon at Vata cove (buses 3 or 6). The
lagoon is right at the heart of the city! |
 |
 |
You should also take a visit to Port
Moselle, Kuendu Beach, take a walk near the Meridien hotel and to
Vata Cove. You'll see, there is a lot to do in Noumea. Near the
bus station there is a "China town", with its many Chinese-owned
shops and businesses.
Noumea is a town that goes to bed early. There is not a lot
going on a night, apart from a few night clubs or cafés.
There is a bit of crime in Noumea, but it is really minimal when
compared to a lot of other cities. |
