A good, inexpensive place to stay in Noumea

The meeting point for all the explorers of the island, this is a very unique and well-run establishment.

Located in the hills of Noumea behind the cathedral, you can get there by walking up its 118 steps (yes, it's worth it). You'll find clean rooms, with a shared kitchen, refrigerator, a recreation room, Ping-Pong table,washing machine and an incredible view of Noumea and the lagoon.

But it's also an ideal place to meet with and talk to other travelers to get up to date on all the latest information concerning the islands you would like to visit.

Ask the owners for information about the various places you want to see. It's a very pleasant place to stay. And even though it is called a youth hostel, it is open to people of all ages. Discounts for those under 25.

But the price is really what makes it all worth all. You can't beat it. A bed in a room for 4 to 6 people costs 1100 CFP ($11) with a locker, refrigerator and clean sheets. When you know that the tiniest little hotel room costs at least £40, there is really no reason to hesitate...
