Cabo de roca
The westernmost point in Europe |
| Cabo de roca: a gorgeous landscape on the heights of the
westernmost cliff in Europe. |
 |
Even further west than Raz point in Brittany, France! Thanks to its
isolated geographical location, the mythic 490 foot cliff has not yet
been bombarded with tourist shops and snack bars. |
| There are two souvenir shops and a good restaurant. You can by a
certificate that proves that you have been at Europe's westernmost point.
Why not? You're on holiday, right?
At the top of the point is a lighthouse which overlooks the unruly waters
below. La cabo de roca is often overrun with tourists in the high season,
but it is still worth the trip. |

The coast in part of this Portugal is a succession of rough, rocky
cliffs that remind one of the coast in Brittany. It is wild nature at
its best. Please be sure and protect the animal life on the site and stay
out of the protected zones. |
| The best way to get there is to take the coastal road N375, from
praia do Gincho toward praia grande, or vice versa. This little
mountain road is quite pretty in itself. |
