Portfolio - Tunisian doors

Ah, Tunisian doors! Red, yellow, green, but mostly blue and white like
those in Sidi Bou Said. The Tunisian doors with their three handles can
be seen everywhere.
These three handles are nor there randomly! Each corresponds to a different
bell, so that people always knew who was visiting them before opening
the door. The handle located on the left side on the top of the door was
used by guests. The one on the right side was used by the master of the
house. Lastly, the small handle at the bottom of the right side of the
door was that of the wife and children. Replaced by intercoms, these handles
have lost their original function today. However, these colourful doors
remain the finest decoration of Tunisian streets.
