Turkish cuisine is excellent, quality cuisine. We especially loved
the the wide spreads of hors-d'œuvres called ("meze"). In
Turkey, there are a great variety of restaurants available and at
all prices. In major cities, and all over the country you have your
choice of any number of succulent dishes in small local restaurants
at very reasonable prices. Meze (hors d'œuvres)
are often accompanied with raki or wine. Fish and seafood is always
fresh and delectable. Don't hesitate to stop for a meal at any of
the roadside restaurants. The lamb brochettes are excellent, the salads
very tasty, and the spicy rice-stuffed vegetables are very savory.
There are many delicious Turkish pastries, such as baklava (puff pastry,
almonds, honey) or lokoums. Restaurants serve Raki, local wines and
coffee.
